FACT CHECK: Scheer, Singh and Blanchet want to scrap the Safe Third Country Agreement, but that wouldn’t resolve the challenges posed by global migration

According to the UNHCR, there are over 70 million displaced people around the world. This is the highest number ever recorded. When Andrew Scheer, Jagmeet Singh and Yves-François Blanchet say they would fix that by scrapping the Safe Third Country Agreement between Canada and the USA, they demonstrate their lack of understanding of global migration issues. People are fleeing war and persecution and there is no easy fix. We have made ambitious investments in border security and immigration services, which the CPC, NDP and the Bloc opposed.
