FACT CHECK: Conservatives and NDP opposed the Liberal plan to fight poverty

Under Justin Trudeau’s Liberal plan, 900,000 Canadians have been lifted out of poverty, including 300,000 children.

But over the past four years, the Conservatives and New Democrats have been busy voting against policies that help lift people out of poverty. They voted against giving more money to families with the Canada Child Benefit, against a tax cut for the middle class, and against a stronger Canada Pension Plan for our seniors.

Today, Canada’s economy is strong and growing, with record-low unemployment and poverty levels. There’s more work to do – and that’s why Liberals have a plan to invest in Canadians.
