FACT CHECK: Scheer is wrong on taxes – Liberals lowered taxes for middle class Canadians

When Andrew Scheer claims that the Liberals have raised taxes on 80% of middle class Canadians, he is willfully misleading people and that’s wrong. Full stop.

1. Under our plan, the first thing we did was cut taxes for the middle class by raising them for the wealthiest 1%.
2. We introduced the Canada Child Benefit, a more generous, tax-free benefit that puts more money in the pockets of families.
3. Taken together, experts agree that we cut the average tax burden for a middle-class family in Quebec by 54%.

We know there’s more work to do, and that’s why a re-elected liberal government will keep standing up for the middle class.
